Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup is easy-to-use software designed to continuously backup and protect the data on your Windows computers. Unlike periodic backup software that operates on a scheduled basis, Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup tracks the revision history of your files as you save or delete them and automatically replicates your backup data to either network storage or locally attached backup devices, such as USB drives.
- Cross-platform support for Windows, Linux, and NetWare
- Agents for Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, and more
- "Bare Metal Restore" from backups
- Efficient compression and encryption of data
- High-performance, concurrent data streams for backup and recovery
- Backs up to disk, CD/DVD, tape drives, autoloaders, and robotic libraries
- Automated scheduling and media rotation interfaces
- Alerting of backup completion or errors
- Centralised management across multiple servers, applications, and devices
While data stored on file servers can typically be backed up on a schedule,
desktop computers are often shutdown during typical automatic backups to save
power. During these same backup schedules, laptop computers are generally
not connected to enterprise networks. Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup is
specifically designed to backup and protect data on these desktop and laptop
computers by backing up data on a continuous basis when in use, storing changes
on file save or file deletion operations locally. For open files, such as
Microsoft Outlook PST files, near-continuous protection is facilitated through
automated hourly backups to local storage.
Through this local backup cache,
Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup enables end users to easily rollback to previous
versions or recover accidentally deleted files even when disconnected. Once
connected to network storage or a locally attached backup device, Yosemite
Desktop / Laptop Backup automatically synchronizes all local files and backup
caches to a remote data vault stored on the network storage or backup device
to enable complete data recovery in the event of disaster.
End users can recover data on their own without waiting on their IT groups.
When users need to rollback to a previous version, they can right-click on
the file name in Windows Explorer to reveal options. Alternately, a control
panel available through a Windows system tray icon enables a search for the
recovery of lost files.
Yosemite Desktop / Laptop Backup enables the specification of file exclusion
rules to ensure that only the most important data is backed up. A corporate
policy server is also available to standardize data protection policy across
the enterprise.
